Sustainability through Philanthropy | Darwin | For boards and leaders
A workshop on the key success factors required to build whole-of-organisation, sustainable, long-term philanthropic programs, led by strategic fundraising expert Serhat Abdurazak.
Revenue from philanthropic fundraising is an essential source of income for small to medium arts organisations.
We’re presenting two workshops in Darwin this November on philanthropic fundraising developed specifically for NT arts organisations: one for staff who undertake fundraising as part of their roles; and one for chairs, board members and senior executives who are responsible for oversight and organisational strategy.
Both workshops will be led by strategic fundraising expert Serhat Abdurazak, who’ll share nearly 30 years’ experience working in development for the not-for-profit sector, including in the NT.
This workshop for chairs, board members and senior executives will focus on high-level strategy and leadership, and on the roles and responsibilities of the board and senior executives within the organisation. It’s designed to engage discussion around:
- The importance of vision and leadership, and how to create fundraising leadership across an organisation
- The roles required of the board, patrons, CEO, executive and staff
- Building a fundraising strategy with a whole-of-organisation approach
- How to best support staff to fundraise
- How to advocate for your organisation in a way that leads to fundraising success
- How best to introduce possible supporters
- The resources and skills required for the board and organization to succeed
This will be a ‘Chatham House Rules’ opportunity to learn about how to boost fundraising in your organisation, and also to talk opening and honestly about the challenges.
For organisations that wish to attend this session, we encourage at least one board member, and preferably the Chair, to attend with the head of their organization.
We’re also presenting a complementary session for staff and senior executives who have fundraising roles within organisations, from 2pm to 5pm on the same day. This workshop will focus on the key elements, processes and systems required to develop and implement a successful, long-term fundraising strategy. Find out more about this workshop.
If you’re unsure which workshop is the most appropriate for you to attend, email NT State Manager Gwen Gaff at email@example.com to discuss.
